The Short Version
- Weds does not call this a forging process. It calls AMF a third method, distinct from both casting and forging — and explains why.
- Weights are published per size. 15×7.0J is 5.00 kg.
- TC105X FORGED is certified for the GR86/BRZ Cup, stated on Weds’ own spec sheet.
- There is no TC105N. Four TC105X variants are current together.
What AMF Actually Is
The brief we started with assumed Weds markets the TC105X as forged. Weds does not, and its own explanation is worth reading carefully.
AMF stands for Advanced Metal Forming. In Weds’ own words:
With AMF, the disc face and the rim material are first cast. This cast disc-and-rim blank is then run through a wheel-specific spinning machine to roll and thin the rim… This third method, combining the merits of both casting and forging, is AMF — a spinning process.
So: cast disc, flow-formed rim. Weds explicitly positions it as a hybrid, a “third method”, and does not claim it is forging.
That is the same underlying technique Enkei calls MAT on the RPF1, and it is worth noticing that both companies describe it honestly rather than borrowing the word “forged”. The industry has plenty of brands that do not.
The FORGED Variant, and What We Could Not Settle
There is a TC105X FORGED, and here the naming gets harder to parse.
Weds describes what FORGED adds as サイドマシニングで削り取ったH断面形状 — an H-section spoke profile machined into the sides, “that cannot be achieved by mould-forming alone.”
What the pages we read do not make explicit is whether the disc itself is genuinely forged, or whether FORGED is the same AMF base with additional CNC side-machining. We could not resolve it, and given the process explanation Weds gives elsewhere, we think the question is a fair one to leave open rather than answer confidently.
There is also a TC105X DSR, 18-inch only, using “Double AMF” — spinning both the inner and outer rim, where previously only the inner was spun, producing a seamless weld-free rim.
Published Weights
Weds prints these in its own spec and price PDFs, which is more than most.
| TC105X (standard) | Weight | TC105X FORGED | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| 15×7.0J | 5.00 kg | 17×7.5J | 6.28 kg |
| 16×7.5J | 5.95 kg | 18×8.5J | 7.36 kg |
| 17×8.0J | 7.31 kg | 18×9.5J | 7.61 kg |
| 18×8.5J | 7.45 kg | 19×9.0J | 8.52 kg |
| 18×10.0J | 8.04 kg | 19×10.0J | 9.03 kg |
| 18×11.0J | 8.62 kg | 19×10.5J | 9.24 kg |
A 5.00 kg 15×7.0J is a genuinely light wheel, and it is the reason the TC105X has the reputation it does among people who race.
Sizes and Fitments
- TC105X — 15 to 18 inch. PCDs 4-100, 5-100, 5-114.3 and 5-120, the last explicitly flagged for the Civic Type R FK8 and FL5. Bores φ65 and φ73. Offsets from +10 to +50 depending on size and face.
- TC105X FORGED — 17 to 19 inch. PCDs 5-100, 5-114.3, 5-112 and 5-120. Bores φ65 and φ73.
- TC105X DSR — 18 inch only.
Note the 4-100 option on the standard wheel. A 15-inch, 5 kg, 4×100 track wheel is exactly what a lot of the older cars we cover need, and there is not much competition for it.
Homologation
One clean, primary-sourced claim: TC105X FORGED is a TOYOTA GAZOO Racing GR86/BRZ Cup certified wheel, stated in the header of Weds’ own spec and price sheet.
That is a real one-make-series homologation, and it is the same series the RegaMaster EVO2 Racing Line was certified for. Beyond that, WedsSport has active Super GT and Super Taikyu programmes as a brand, but we could not find a page tying the TC105X specifically to them.
No Successor
We looked for a TC105N or similar and found nothing on Weds’ site. TC105X, TC105X FORGED, TC105X DSR and TC105X GRAVEL all appear together in the current lineup, none marked discontinued.
DSR is described as “WedsSport’s newest TC105X model” but is presented as an addition — 18 inch only — not a replacement. The standard wheel and the FORGED remain orderable.
What We Could Not Verify
- Whether “FORGED” reflects an actual forging step for the disc, or the same AMF base plus extra machining.
- JWL and VIA marks specifically. These are shown as logos on Weds’ pages, which we could not read as text. Given Weds’ scale and market this is very likely present — check the wheel.
- Full size and weight tables for TC105X DSR and TC105X GRAVEL.
- Any statement tying the TC105X specifically, rather than WedsSport generally, to Super GT or Super Taikyu.
