Toyota Japan lists the Land Cruiser 250 as its own model, separate from the Land Cruiser 300, the 70 and the Prado names, and publishes a short question-and-answer page, in PDF form, with the tyre and wheel sizes fitted at the factory. This guide sets out what those pages print, how badly the layout is scrambled, and what a buyer of aftermarket or second-hand wheels can and cannot take from them. The translations are ours. We read two versions of the page, one starting in April 2024 and one starting in April 2026.
The Short Version
- Six holes at 139.7. The rows print 139.7 for the PCD and show six holes, which gives 6×139.7. The text also contains a 95 where the hub-bore column belongs and a 22.5 that has no heading we can match.
- Two diameters in the older version. The April 2024 page shows 20×7½J and 18×7½J, plus an 18×7J on a row labelled GX.
- The newer version is shorter. The April 2026 page we read contains a single data row, labelled VX: 265/65R18 on an 18×7½J alloy.
- Nut fastening. The rows say nut.
- The column order is scrambled. The headings and the values are out of order in the text we could read, so the inset, hub-bore and hole-count figures below are our inference from position, not a clean read.
What Toyota’s Page Prints
The April 2024 version says it applies from April 2024 for new models, as we read it. The April 2026 version says it applies from April 2026. A marker legend says a filled circle means standard equipment and a triangle means a manufacturer option. Units are given as approximate millimetres. Our reading of the April 2024 table is below, with the column mapping inferred from position.
| Grade label | Tyre | Wheel | Inset (ET), inferred | PCD | Hub bore, inferred | Holes, inferred | Marker |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| none attached | 265/60R20 112H | 20×7½J alloy, matt grey | 60 | 139.7 | 95 | 6 | Standard |
| none attached | 265/65R18 114V | 18×7½J alloy, matt grey | 60 | 139.7 | 95 | 6 | Option |
| VX | 265/65R18 114V | 18×7½J alloy, dark grey metallic | 60 | 139.7 | 95 | 6 | Standard |
| GX | 245/70R18 110H | 18×7J alloy, dark grey metallic | 70 | 139.7 | 95 | 6 | Standard |
The VX and GX labels sit directly before their rows, which suggests those pairings, but that is still an inference. A third label, ZX, appears on its own with no row, so the two rows without a grade may belong to ZX or to other grades. The April 2026 version repeats the VX row (265/65R18 114V on an 18×7½J alloy) with the same figures. The wheels are described as having a centre ornament. The page does not print nut or bolt type beyond the word nut, tightening torque or load rating.
Source and Its Limits
The sources are Toyota Japan’s factory tyre and wheel size pages for the Land Cruiser 250: the version starting April 2024 and the version starting April 2026. These are manufacturer statements of what was fitted at the factory, not statements of what else will fit. We saw no sizes for cars sold before the first date, so we say nothing about them here. Because the table is the most scrambled of the Toyota pages we have read, we recommend confirming any figure with Toyota or a dealer before relying on it.
What This Means When Shopping
- Bolt pattern. A wheel for this car needs a 6×139.7 pattern as printed. Our Land Cruiser guide covers two bolt patterns across the Land Cruiser family, so check which pattern a wheel is drilled for rather than going by the model name.
- Hub bore. Toyota’s page shows a figure of 95 in the hub-bore position as we read it. Our reference on hub bore explains how to measure it yourself, and we suggest measuring before buying.
- Inset. The figures we read are 60, and 70 for the GX row. A wheel with a different inset sits further in or out relative to the fender.
- Other Land Cruisers. Our guides to the Land Cruiser 70 and the Prado cover other bodies. The pattern alone does not make a wheel suitable.
Importing
In the US, the 25-year import exemption (49 CFR 591.5(i)) applies to a vehicle that is 25 or more years old, counted from the date of manufacture. As arithmetic only, a car built in April 2024 would reach 25 years in April 2049. We have not verified any build month, and the dates on Toyota’s pages are the dates of the page versions, not build dates. We did not check the import rules of other countries.
What We Could Not Verify
- The inset, hub-bore and hole-count values, which we read by position from a scrambled table. The unlabelled 22.5 is not explained by the page.
- Which grade carries the two rows with no label, and whether a ZX grade uses either of them.
- Why the April 2026 version shows only one row.
- Whether the 20-inch size is still offered.
- The model’s generations, chassis codes and launch date.
- Whether non-factory wheel sizes fit. Toyota’s pages list only factory fitments.
- Nut or bolt type, tightening torque and load rating, none of which the pages print.
- The specification of Land Cruiser 250 cars sold outside Japan.
- Any import rules outside the US 25-year rule as stated above.
