Introduction
The 911 has the most extreme factory offsets of any car in this series, and for a specific reason: the engine is behind the rear axle. To package a very wide rear tyre under a body that is not proportionally wide, Porsche uses rear offsets that reach ET77 — more than 30 mm higher than the front axle on the same car. Nothing about 911 fitment transfers from a front-engined car.
Scope note: this guide covers bolt-on wheels only — Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera S and 997 Turbo. GT3, GT2 and Turbo S models from the 991 generation onward use centre-lock hubs, which are a completely different mounting system with a 101 mm hub and a single central nut. Centre-lock wheels and five-bolt wheels are not interchangeable in either direction, and centre-lock fitment is outside the scope of this article.

Read the rear column carefully. A rear-wheel-drive 991 Carrera runs ET77 at the rear. The same car in Carrera 4 form runs ET56 — a 21 mm difference on an otherwise identical-looking wheel. RWD and AWD 911 rear wheels are not interchangeable, and this is the most common 911 fitment mistake. A listing that says “fits 991 Carrera” without specifying RWD or 4 is not enough information.
5×130 is shared with Volkswagen Touareg, Audi Q7 and Mercedes Sprinter — not with any other sports car. In practice the used 911 wheel market is its own ecosystem, and cross-shopping from other platforms rarely works because the offsets those vehicles use are nowhere near 911 territory.

Factory-Faithful
Stay on the model-specific figures in the table. On a 911 there is very little useful margin — the arches are shaped tightly around the factory wheel, and the rear suspension geometry is unforgiving of offset changes.

- Rear: ET48 (997 Carrera 4) up to ET77 (991 RWD Carrera)
- Hub bore: 71.6 mm on bolt-on cars
Aftermarket Fitment
Because factory rear offsets are so high, the normal aftermarket route on a 911 is a wheel made specifically for the platform rather than a generic 5×130 wheel plus spacers. Spacers are used, but they are correcting a deliberately deep factory position, not creating stance.
- Bolt length is critical. Porsche uses bolts, not studs. Any change in wheel thickness or spacer requires correctly sized bolts with full thread engagement
- Do not mix RWD and AWD rear wheels even if the bolt pattern and diameter match
