Why This Page Exists
A great many Japanese cars are sold under more than one badge. Not variants — the same physical vehicle, built in one factory, with different grilles and different names.
That matters for wheels in three ways. Your car’s parts may be listed under a name you have never heard of. A cheap set advertised for a different badge may fit yours exactly. And when the database has no data for your car, its twin’s page may have it — a trick that has now worked repeatedly.
Here is the map, built entirely from chassis codes and figures we read ourselves.
How to Read a Chassis Code
The convention is remarkably consistent once you see it: the numbers stay, the letters change.
| Donor | Code | Rebadge | Code |
|---|---|---|---|
| Suzuki Alto | HA23S | Mazda Carol | HB23S |
| Suzuki Wagon R | MH34S | Mazda Flair | MJ34S |
| Suzuki Carry | DA16T | Mazda Scrum | DG16T |
| Suzuki MR Wagon | MF21S | Nissan Moco | MG21S |
| Suzuki Solio | MA15S | Mitsubishi Delica D:2 | MB15S |
| Daihatsu Thor | M900S | Toyota Roomy / Tank | M900A |
| Daihatsu Thor | M900S | Subaru Justy | M900F |
| Daihatsu Mira e:S | LA300S | Toyota Pixis Epoch | LA300A |
| Daihatsu Cast | LA250S | Toyota Pixis Joy | LA250A |
Daihatsu’s convention is the tidiest: S for Daihatsu, A for Toyota, F for Subaru, digits unchanged.
The Map
Mazda kei cars are all Suzuki
Every one. Full guide here.
- Carol = Suzuki Alto — 4×100 / 54
- AZ-Wagon and Flair = Suzuki Wagon R — 4×100 / 54. Note: Flair is not the MR Wagon, contrary to common belief.
- Flair Wagon = Suzuki Palette, then Spacia — 4×100 / 54
- Flair Crossover = Suzuki Hustler — 4×100 / 54
- Scrum = Suzuki Carry / Every — 4×100 / 60
Nissan kei cars have four different donors
- Moco = Suzuki MR Wagon — donor says 54; Moco’s own page says nothing
- Otti = Mitsubishi eK Wagon — 4×100 / 56
- Clipper, 2003–2013 = Mitsubishi Minicab — 56
- Clipper, 2013– = Suzuki Carry / Every — 60 on the van, 54 recorded on the truck (unresolved)
- Roox ML21S, 2009–2013 = Suzuki Palette — 54
- Dayz and Roox, 2013– = Nissan-Mitsubishi joint venture — 56 where published
Toyota and Subaru buy from Daihatsu
- Passo = Daihatsu Boon — 4×100 / 54
- Roomy, Tank, Justy = Daihatsu Thor — 4×100 / 54
- Pixis Epoch = Daihatsu Mira e:S — 54
- Pixis Space = Daihatsu Move Conte — 54
- Pixis Joy = Daihatsu Cast — 54. Not the Tanto Exe, which uses entirely different codes.
- Subaru Pleo and Stella, after 2010 and 2011 — Daihatsu-built, and the bore drops from Subaru’s 59 to Daihatsu’s 54
- Subaru Sambar, after 2012 = Daihatsu Hijet
Mitsubishi buys from Suzuki too
- Delica D:2 = Suzuki Solio. Both pages leave the bore unresearched — a shared gap rather than the usual one-sided one.
The Bore Follows the Builder, Not the Badge
This is the single most useful conclusion on the page.
| Built by | Kei hub bore |
|---|---|
| Suzuki, Daihatsu | 54 mm (60 mm on kei commercials) |
| Honda, Mitsubishi | 56 mm |
| Subaru, until it stopped building its own | 59 mm |
So a Nissan Otti is 56 and a Nissan Moco is 54, because one is a Mitsubishi and one is a Suzuki. A Subaru Stella is 59 or 54 depending on the year, for the same reason.
Ask who built it, not whose badge is on it.
When Your Page Is Empty, Read the Twin
The practical payoff, and it works in both directions.
We have found six cases where one badge carries a hub bore and its twin does not:
- Carina ED has it; Corona EXiV does not
- Wingroad has it; AD Wagon does not
- Corsa and Tercel have two generations Corolla II lacks
- Gaia has it; Ipsum does not — on the same chassis code
- Domani and Orthia have it; Integra SJ does not
- Suzuki MR Wagon has it; Nissan Moco does not
And two where the rebadge is better documented than the donor:
- Mazda Scrum has 60 mm where many Suzuki Carry and Every grades are blank
- Nissan Clipper has 56 mm where many Mitsubishi Minicab grades are blank
So it is not a rule that the mainstream badge wins. Check both.
What We Could Not Verify
- The Nissan Moco’s bore, on either database.
- Delica D:2 and Suzuki Solio — unresearched on both sides.
- The NT100 Clipper Truck at 54 mm versus the Suzuki Carry at 60 mm. Recorded consistently within each page and irreconcilable between them.
- Whether every Mazda AZ-Wagon grade’s offset matches its Wagon R equivalent exactly.
