Toyota GR Yaris Wheel Fitment Guide: The Gold Cap, the Offset Window, and Why GR Corolla Wheels Do Not Fit

The GR Yaris is a homologation special that Toyota built because it wanted to go rallying, and it has the wheel specification to match: a narrow offset window, a forged BBS option, and a car it looks like it should share wheels with but does not.

For American readers, the headline is unwelcome. The GR Yaris was never sold in the United States, it has no federal certification, and it is not substantially similar to any US-market Toyota, so the show-and-display route does not apply either. The earliest cars become 25-year eligible around 2045.

The Short Version

  • 5×114.3 on a 60.1 mm bore. Standard Toyota.
  • The BBS wheel is 8J×18 at +45, forged, roughly 8.8 kg.
  • BBS is a Circuit Pack option, not standard. A gold centre-cap badge means forged BBS; silver means the cast wheel.
  • The RC grade runs 17-inch on 205/45R17 — smaller than the RZ’s 225/40R18.
  • GR Corolla wheels are not a drop-in swap. Same pattern, +30 instead of +45.

The Grades and What They Wear

GR Yaris factory fitments
Grade Wheel Offset Tyre
RZ / RZ High Performance, Circuit Pack 8J×18 forged BBS +45 225/40R18
RZ, without Circuit Pack 18″ cast not confirmed 225/40R18
RC (Japan only) 17″, width not confirmed not confirmed 205/45R17
RS (Japan only, 1.5 CVT) 18″ multi-spoke cast not confirmed 225/40

Factory tyres split between Michelin Pilot Sport 4S and Dunlop SP Sport Maxx 050, both in 225/40R18. Both are genuinely original equipment; it appears to be dual sourcing across production runs and markets rather than one being a replacement for the other.

The RC is the interesting grade. It is the stripped, rally-focused Japanese-market car, and it goes down to 17 inches on a taller-sidewall 205 tyre. Its track is also reported as 5 mm wider than the RZ’s. If you are building a GR Yaris for gravel rather than circuit, the factory already told you which direction to go.

Gold Cap or Silver Cap

This is the single most useful thing to know when buying a used GR Yaris or a used set of its wheels.

The Circuit Pack BBS wheel is forged and weighs roughly 8.8 kg. There is also a cast wheel that looks broadly similar. They are told apart by the centre cap badge: gold for forged BBS, silver for cast.

A seller describing “BBS wheels” without saying which is not necessarily being dishonest — but the two are different products at different prices, and the badge colour settles it in one photograph.

Why GR Corolla Wheels Do Not Just Bolt On

Both are 5×114.3. It is tempting to treat them as interchangeable.

They are not. The GR Corolla’s Morizo Edition forged BBS wheel is 18×8.5 at +30. The GR Yaris runs 8J at +45. That is 15 mm of offset difference on a car with a tight arch and a caliper that does not leave much room.

The pattern matching means the bolts line up. It does not mean the wheel will sit where the suspension expects it, or clear what it needs to clear.

The Offset Window

Owner fitment threads on the GR Yaris and GR Corolla forums — community sources, not Toyota data — report that aftermarket 17-inch wheels generally need an offset in the region of +35 to +45 or higher to clear the front caliper, with some builds reporting as little as a millimetre of caliper-to-spoke clearance at the lower end.

That is the practical constraint on this car. Not the bolt pattern, not the bore — the caliper. If you are going down in diameter, clearance is a measuring job before it is a shopping job.

We could not verify a related claim circulating in wheel blogs that the RC has smaller front brakes than the RZ. It may be a confusion between wheel diameter and brake diameter. We are flagging it rather than repeating it.

What We Could Not Verify

  • Rim widths for the RC’s 17-inch and the RS’s 18-inch wheels. Tyre sizes only.
  • Whether the 2024 facelift changed wheel width or offset. The data suggests continuity; no facelift-specific table was available.
  • GR Corolla’s hub bore, and the standard-grade GR Corolla wheel spec.
  • Any brake diameter difference between RC and RZ.
  • Whether Michelin or Dunlop was the primary OE tyre, or how they were split.

Getting GR Yaris Wheels From Japan

This is a Japanese-market car with a Japanese-market aftermarket, and the genuine Circuit Pack sets that come loose from cars stay here. Tell us the grade and whether you want forged or cast through the Request page — and if you are shopping for a wheel to go under a GR Corolla, say so, because the answer is different.
