The Short Version
- 5×114.3 with a 60 mm hub bore on every Altezza grade — RS200, AS200 and the Gita wagon.
- Only the RS200 6-speed manual came on 17 inch as standard. The RS200 automatic and both AS200 transmissions came on 15×6.5J, with 17 inch as a factory option.
- The Gita wagon is staggered by tyre: 215/45R17 front, 225/45R17 rear, on the same 17×7J +50 wheel.
- No JDM-versus-Lexus difference in pattern or bore that we could find.
The 17-Inch Assumption
Everybody knows the Altezza RS200 as a 17-inch car. It is only half true, and the half that is false will cost you money.
The RS200 with the six-speed manual ships 17×7J at +50 on 215/45R17 as standard. That is the car in every photograph.
The RS200 with the five-speed automatic, and both AS200 transmissions, ship 15×6.5J at +50 on 195/65R15 as standard, with the 17-inch wheel available as a factory option.
So a genuine, unmodified Altezza can be sitting on 15-inch wheels. If you are buying a car and expecting the 17s, check. If you are selling a set of factory 17s, they are worth more than a set of 15s for exactly this reason.

The Gita’s Staggered Tyre
The Altezza Gita wagon runs the same 17×7J at +50 front and rear, but the tyres differ: 215/45R17 at the front and 225/45R17 at the rear.
Same wheel, different tyre. That is the same pattern we found on the Bongo Friendee, and it means a set of four identical tyres is not what the car left the factory with.
Altezza and Lexus IS
The Altezza was sold outside Japan as the Lexus IS200 and IS300. On the Japanese side we found no difference at all — every JDM grade is 5×114.3 on 60 mm, which matches the figures generally quoted for the Lexus car.
We could not check the export-market Lexus against a Japanese factory table, because those cars are not in the Japanese databases. Our Lexus IS guide covers that side.
What is worth carrying across is the grade point above. The 15-versus-17 inch split is a JDM grade structure, and it does not map neatly onto the Lexus trim names.
Sizing
+50 is deep, and the Altezza is a narrow car by modern standards. The usual move is 17×8J to 18×8.5J in the +35 to +45 range, which is enough to fill the arch without needing work on most cars.
The 60 mm bore is the standard Toyota rear-drive figure, shared with the Chaser, the Crown, the Soarer and the Supra, so wheel supply is excellent and hub rings are easy.
Importing
The Altezza ran from October 1998 to 2005. Cars built through August 2001 are eligible for US import now — roughly the first third of production — with the rest following month by month to 2030.
North America had this car as the Lexus IS300, but only with the 2JZ-GE and only in limited transmission combinations. The RS200 with the 3S-GE and the six-speed is the grade America never got, and it is the one worth importing.

- The AS200 L Edition and Wise Selection sub-trims, whose pages exist but which we did not open.
