The Short Version

  • Before October 1998: 4×110 with a 67 mm hub bore. After: 4×100 with a 54 mm bore.
  • Both numbers changed at once, and they changed on the Mira and the Move together.
  • The boundary is the L500S to L700S break on the Mira, and L600S to L900S on the Move — the October 1998 kei standard revision.
  • 4×110 is unusual and it is why old Daihatsu wheels do not fit anything else.

The Changeover, Pinned Down

We opened the factory pages ourselves for this one because it is the kind of claim that gets repeated wrongly.

The E-L500S Mira, built 1994–1996, reads: PCD 110 mm, 4 holes, hub bore 67 mm.

The GF-L700S Mira, whose production starts in October 1998, reads: PCD 100 mm, 4 holes, hub bore 54 mm.

Both numbers move together, and the new specification is present from the very first grade of the L700S generation. There is no transitional period.

The same thing happens on the Move: the L600S (1996–97) is 4×110 with a 67 mm bore, and the L900S Custom (2001) is 4×100 with 54 mm. Two separate model lines, the same two pairs of numbers, the same boundary. That is not grade-level noise — it is a platform-wide change tied to the October 1998 revision of Japan’s kei vehicle standard, which allowed a longer, wider body and brought new platforms with it.

The Offset Moved Too

Do not miss this. The old cars sit at +50 and the new ones at +35 on the Mira and +45 on the Move Custom.

So the change is not just “different studs”. A post-1998 Mira sits 15 mm further out than a pre-1998 one. If you are looking at photographs of the two generations and wondering why the newer car looks less tucked, that is why.

Why 4×110 Matters

4×110 is a rare pattern. It is not the kei standard 4×100, it is not the 4×114.3 you find on the Minicab and the Cappuccino, and it is not shared with much else.

The practical effect is that a pre-1998 Mira or Move has a genuinely small wheel market. Post-1998 cars are on the common kei pattern and have the run of it. If you are buying a car rather than wheels, that is worth factoring in.

How This Relates to the Hijet and the Kei Trucks

Daihatsu’s commercial line went through the same change. RS Watanabe’s own Daihatsu table notes explicitly that the Hijet Van was PCD 110/4 for 1994–1998 — the same specification, ending at the same boundary.

So the October 1998 line runs across Daihatsu’s whole kei range, passenger and commercial alike. Our Hijet guide and kei truck and van guide cover the commercial side.

Importing

The L200S and L500S Mira and the L600S Move are all fully past the US 25-year mark. The L700S launched in October 1998, so it becomes eligible from October 2023 onward — also clear. The L900S Move from 2001 is eligible for cars built through August 2001.

So in practice, most of what you would want is importable now. Kei road registration rules at state level remain a separate question.

What We Could Not Verify

  • L200S hub bore. The earliest Mira grade we checked is marked “under investigation”, while the L500S fourteen months later gives a clean 67 mm. We are not backfilling it.
  • The M10×1.25 thread figure widely quoted for this era of Daihatsu. We did not find it stated on a primary source page.
  • Hub bore for every 4×110 sub-variant — the L70V and L71V Mira vans, the L502 Avanzato, and the L602S and L610S Move siblings. We spot-checked representative grades.
