The Short Version

  • 5×114.3 with a 66 mm hub bore across every Z33 and Z34 grade, including Nismo. No exceptions found.
  • The Z34 base grade is aggressively staggered: 18×8J at +43 front, 18×9J at +15 rear.
  • That is a 28 mm offset spread on a base car, which is easy to mis-transcribe as symmetric.
  • Neither generation is US-import eligible yet. The Z33 launched in 2002.

The Offset Spread on the Z34

The bolt pattern and bore are the boring part here — 5×114.3 on 66 mm, every grade, both generations, exactly as you would expect from a Nissan of this era.

The number worth checking twice is the Z34’s. The base grade runs 18×8J at +43 at the front and 18×9J at +15 at the rear. That is an inch of extra rear width and 28 millimetres of offset difference between the axles.

It is unusual for a base trim, and it is exactly the sort of figure that gets copied down as “+43 all round” by someone skimming a spec sheet. If you buy a square set of +43 wheels for a Z34, the rear will sit 28 mm further in than the car was designed for.

The Version NISMO goes further still: 19×9.5J at +40 front, 19×10.5J at +23 rear.

Read from the Japanese factory wheel database.

The Z33 Nismo Is Staggered by Diameter

Worth noticing separately. The Z33 Version Nismo runs an 18-inch front and a 19-inch rear — 18×8J at +30 with 245/40R18, and 19×8.5J at +33 with 275/35R19.

Different diameters front to rear is rare even on staggered cars, and it means a Nismo set is genuinely four different wheels rather than two pairs. If you are buying a used “Z33 Nismo” set, count the diameters.

Where This Sits Against Our Other Guides

We publish separate guides for the 350Z and the 370Z, which cover the export cars. This one covers the Japanese grade structure, which is where the Version ST, Version Nismo and Type E names live.

Nothing we found here contradicts a standard published figure of 5×114.3 on 66 mm. The JDM and export cars share the hub.

Type E

The Type E is a real Z33 grade, launched January 2004, and it comes up constantly in listings. It is a cosmetic package — a longer nose and tail treatment built on the Version S — rather than a mechanical one.

It does not appear as a separate grade in the factory wheel table, so we have no verified figures for it. It very probably matches the Version S at 18×8J and 18×8.5J, but that is an inference and we are labelling it as one.

Sizing

Both cars are already wide and already staggered from the factory, so the aftermarket move is usually width rather than diameter: 19×9.5J front and 19×11J rear in the +15 to +35 range is common territory on a Z34.

Keep the stagger. These are rear-drive cars with a lot of rear weight bias and the factory setup is not arbitrary.

Importing

The Z33 launched in 2002 and the Z34 in 2008. Neither is eligible for US import under the 25-year rule — the earliest Z33s qualify from 2027.

North America had both cars as the 350Z and 370Z throughout, so the reason to import a JDM one is the grades America never got: the Version ST, Version Nismo and Type E.

What We Could Not Verify

  • Type E wheel figures. The grade is real; the specification is not separately tabulated.
  • The Z34 Version T and Heritage Edition trims, whose pages exist but which we did not open.
