

The Short Version
- 5×114.3 with a 67 mm hub bore, on the petrol and the diesel, two- and four-wheel drive alike.
- The 4WD D:5 does not use the 6×139.7 truck pattern that the old 4WD Delicas did. It is a unibody, and it keeps the car fitment.
- Base grades run 16×6.5J at +38. Nearly everything above them runs 18×7J at +38. Same offset, bigger wheel.
The D:5 Broke With the Old Delicas
We publish a Delica Star Wagon and Space Gear guide, and the headline there is that the drivetrain decides the hub: 2WD is 5×114.3 with a 67 mm bore, 4WD is 6×139.7. Those were body-on-frame vehicles with a live rear axle, and the four-wheel-drive versions used light-truck hardware.
The D:5 is a unibody with independent suspension all round regardless of drivetrain. Mitsubishi had no reason to fit a truck bolt circle to the four-wheel-drive version, and did not.
So on a D:5, 2WD and 4WD share the same wheels. That is a genuine break from everything Delica that came before it, and it is the thing to know if you are moving between the two.
Note what did carry over: the 67 mm bore. The 2WD Star Wagon and Space Gear were 67 mm, and so is the D:5. If you have hub rings from an old 2WD Delica they are still the right size.

Two Wheel Sizes, One Offset
The pattern across the whole range is simple: base and M grades on 16×6.5J, everything above on 18×7J, both at +38. A pair of 2007–2009 two-wheel-drive Roadest trims used 17×7J at +38, which is the only exception we found.
Because the offset never moves, an 18-inch upper-grade wheel on a base D:5 sits in exactly the same place, just larger. That makes upgrading straightforward and it makes used takeoffs from higher grades a genuinely direct swap.
Chassis Codes, Untangled
The D:5’s codes shift around and it confuses listings, so here is the map:
- CV5W — petrol. Covered both two- and four-wheel drive early on, then four-wheel drive only after Mitsubishi split the two-wheel-drive cars off.
- CV2W — two-wheel-drive petrol, from around 2012.
- CV1W — diesel, four-wheel drive only. LDA-CV1W is pre-facelift (2013–2019), 3DA-CV1W is post-facelift (2019 on).
None of that changes the fitment. All of them are 5×114.3 on 67 mm.
Sizing and Load
The D:5 is a heavy, tall, eight-seat vehicle that gets used for exactly what it looks like it is for. Wheel choice here is a load question before it is a styling one.
The overland-styled builds these cars attract typically go to 16 or 17 inch with a taller all-terrain tyre rather than larger, precisely because ground clearance and sidewall matter more than diameter. 67 mm hub rings will be needed with most aftermarket wheels.
Importing
The D:5 launched in 2007 and is still in production. Under the US 25-year rule the earliest cars become eligible in 2032. Canada’s fifteen-year rule opens it from 2022 onward, which is why Canadian D:5s are already a common sight.
What We Could Not Verify
- The pre-facelift diesel LDA-CV1W’s own PCD and bore page. We confirmed the post-facelift diesel instead; the wheel sizes match across both.
- Upper grades individually — G Power Package, Chamonix, P, Jasper and the rest. The index gives their wheel size; we did not re-open each for PCD and bore, and no grade-level variation appeared on any code we did open.
